Give it the ol’ college try. That’s what Madison Area Technical College is telling prospective students through a new program allowing them to sample a week of classes for free at the beginning of a school term.
Graduating high school and college at the same time
Jenessa Perry is a graduating senior at Independence High School. Like the rest of her classmates, she balances athletics and academics while enjoying the last few months of high school. Unlike her classmates, however, she’s also enjoying the last few months before graduating from Western Technical College with an associate degree in business management.
NTC to expand in-person offerings for fall
While the college has had in-person learning since June 2020, Northcentral Technical College will transition to a more traditional college experience beginning this August with additional in-person offerings, events and student activities.
Susan May will retire after 13 years as Fox Valley Technical College's president
Fox Valley Technical College President Susan May will retire this summer. May's retirement will be effective July 31, the college announced Wednesday, after she served the FVTC district nearly 40 years, including 13 as president. FVTC's board will begin searching for May's replacement immediately, aiming to announce the college's next president no later than August, according to a news release.
Mid-State brings back Advanced Emergency Medical Technician program
Mid-State Technical College is ramping up efforts to prepare students for careers in advanced emergency medical services with the return of its Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT) program to the mix of available programs.
SWTC ag instructor named to World Dairy Expo Board of Directors
Ryan Weigel, animal science instructor at Southwest Wisconsin Technical College, was appointed in March to a corporate seat on the World Dairy Expo Board of Directors by the Wisconsin Holstein Association. Weigel and his family operate a dairy farm outside of Platteville. He has been a board member of the Wisconsin Holstein Association for four years and is currently serving on its executive committee.
WCTC campuses to open in August
Waukesha County Technical College (WCTC) leaders announced on Tuesday, March 30 that they plan to fully reopen the main Pewaukee and Waukesha campuses on Aug. 2, with the fall semester beginning Aug. 16.

Nicolet introduces Launch-A-Biz virtual entrepreneur training program
For any entrepreneurs interested in growing their business, a new program at Nicolet College is ready to offer help. The new Nicolet College Launch-A-Biz virtual entrepreneur training program will help business owners discover the skills and talents needed for business success. The program is designed to help small business owners grow their businesses beyond the first stage level. The program begins with a first-steps session, followed by sessions on determining the feasibility of your business, designing a strategic planning process, creating a business model, and putting it all together in a one-page business plan.
MATC graphic design grad exemplifies creative, practical education
Community mural artist Tia Richardson not only does beautiful work, but she brings people together to create it. She is a muralist, filmmaker, teacher and entrepreneur, and she exemplifies both the creative and the practical education she received at Milwaukee Area Technical College, according to Laura Bray, vice president of college advancement and external communications at MATC.
